Central Alberta home sales post average month of September
Red Deer, October 19, 2015 – Residential sales reported through the MLS® System of the Central Alberta REALTORS® Association numbered 411 units in September 2015. While this was a decline of 18.3 per cent from a record for the month last year, sales in September 2015 came in above the five-year average for the month, in line with the 10-year average, and also marked the third best level ever for the month.
Sales activity in all of Alberta fell 23.7 per cent from September 2014.
New residential listings on the Association’s MLS® System numbered 829 units in September, up 16.9 per cent from levels in September 2014. This was a record for the month of September.
There were 2,946 active residential listings on the Association’s MLS® System at the end of September, up 7.4 per cent from levels at the end of September 2014.
There were 7.2 months of inventory at the end of September 2015, up from 5.5 months reported attheendofSeptember2014andonparwiththelong-runaverageforthistimeofyear. The number of months of inventory is the number of months it would take to sell current inventories at the current rate of sales activity.
The dollar value of all home sales in September 2015 was $123.1 million, falling 22 per cent from the record September in 2014. This was still the third best dollar volume for the month of September. The dollar value of home sales in all of Alberta declined 27.1 per cent from September 2014.
Sales of all types of properties totaled 431 units in September. This was down 17.7 per cent compared to September 2014. The total value of all property sales amounted to $136 million in September, down 18.1 per cent on a year-over-year basis.
